What privacy policy URL do App Store Connect and Google Play need?
Both stores need the address of a public web page with your app's privacy policy. App Store Connect requires a
Privacy Policy URL for iOS and macOS apps and a Support URL that leads to your contact details, and Apple asks for a
link to the policy inside the app too. Google Play requires every app to enter a privacy policy link in Play Console
and to show a link or the text inside the app, on an active, publicly accessible page that is not a PDF. The quickest
way to get these is a small website for your app with /privacy, /terms and a contact section: ask your AI coding
agent to publish one on heremyapp, and you get permanent URLs to paste into both stores.
What each store asks for
| App Store Connect | Google Play Console | |
|---|---|---|
| Privacy policy URL | Required for iOS and macOS apps (App Information) | Required for all apps (App content > Privacy policy) |
| Inside the app | A link that is easy to find | A link or the policy text |
| The page | Shown on your App Store product page, so anyone must be able to open it | An active, publicly accessible, non-geofenced URL; no PDFs; not editable by others |
| Support or contact | Support URL is required and must lead to actual contact information (such as a legal address, email address and telephone number) where local law requires it | A contact email address is required on the store listing; a website is optional |
| Account deletion | Apps that let people create an account must also offer account deletion inside the app | Apps with accounts also enter a web link where people can request account deletion |

What the policy has to say
Both stores ask for a policy that matches what the app really does. Apple's guideline 5.1.1 lists:
- What data the app collects, how it collects it, and every use of that data.
- That any third party the app shares data with protects it at the same level.
- How long data is kept, how it is deleted, and how a person can withdraw consent or ask for deletion.
Google Play also asks for developer information and a privacy contact, how the app handles personal and sensitive data securely, and the types of parties it shares data with. Include the SDKs in your app as well: analytics, ads, crash reporting and sign-in services all collect data.
Get the URLs with heremyapp
Tell your coding agent:
Publish this project on https://heremyapp.comThe agent builds your app's landing page and, from heremyapp's templates, writes a privacy policy and terms of use that match what your code actually does. It asks for your contact details once, links both pages from every page of the site, and publishes everything. You get addresses that do not change when you update the app or the page:
| Store field | URL |
|---|---|
| Privacy Policy URL (App Store Connect), Privacy policy (Google Play) | heremyapp.com/you/your-app/privacy |
| Terms of use or EULA, if asked | heremyapp.com/you/your-app/terms |
| Support URL, website | heremyapp.com/you/your-app with a contact section |
Pages are served over HTTPS without a sign-in, so app review and your users can open them. On the Pro plan you can connect your own domain; the heremyapp links keep working and lead to it.
Before you submit
- Open the privacy policy in a private browser window: it loads without signing in.
- It names your app and you, and says how to reach you about privacy.
- It describes what the app and its SDKs really collect, even if the answer is "nothing".
- The app links to it, for example from its settings or About screen.
- The support URL shows how to contact you.
FAQ
Do I need a privacy policy if my app collects no data?
Yes. Apple asks every app for a privacy policy link, and Google Play asks every app to post one in Play Console. Say plainly what the app does not collect, and mention the services it uses, such as analytics or crash reporting, if any.
Can I use a PDF or a shared document as my privacy policy URL?
Use a regular web page. Google Play does not accept PDFs and requires a page that others cannot edit. A page on your app's own site, linked from the rest of the site, is the safest choice for both stores.
What URL do I paste into App Store Connect?
Paste the permanent heremyapp link to the policy, such as https://heremyapp.com/you/your-app/privacy, into the
Privacy Policy URL field. Use the landing page itself, with its contact section, as the Support URL.
Will the URL change when I update my app or the page?
No. Each update replaces the page at the same address, so the store listings keep working without changes.
Is the generated privacy policy legal advice?
No. The agent fills in heremyapp's templates with facts from your project and leaves out what it does not know. Read it before you submit, and ask a professional to review it if your app takes payments or handles sensitive data.
